We know your head is probably full to the brim, hopefully these will help a little…

I am interested in working with you, how do we get started?

First of all, yay! We are so happy to welcome you to Betsy & Francis. Please say hi via email or through our contact form on the contact page on our site. Once we have had a good old chin wag and you decide we are the right fit, we’ll send through a contract and invoice.

What are your payment terms?

To start any project, we require a 50% deposit. The remaining 50% is paid on completion of your project (before final files are sent over to you). We are happy to negotiate (where possible) payment terms that suit both parties.

Why do you require a 50% deposit before we can get started on my project?

We are a small agency here at B&F, which means our slots book up very quickly, to ensure you can get a spot, we require you to pay a 50% deposit on your project so that we can pop you on the calendar. Once payment is out of the way we can concentrate on what’s most important to us… you and your business!

I have a question that's not answered here. How can I contact you?

The best way to get in touch with us is via our contact page, otherwise you can email us at Info@betsyandfrancis.com. We aim to get back to you within 24 hours (Mon-Fri, 8.30am-5pm AEST), unless your enquiry is over the weekend, in which case, we will get back to you first thing on Monday.

I’m pretty busy, how much of my time will this TAKE UP?

We’ll need you to spend around 1.5/2 hours filling in the questionnaire we supply to you after our first phone call. Once this is complete we will arrange a 40 minute strategy call to talk through the next steps. After this, you’ll need to spend around 15-30 minutes a week providing us with feedback and approving your designs.

As we are a boutique agency, we are only able to take on a limited number of projects each month. Therefore, due to our size, sometimes we have a waitlist. Once you book in, we’ll share your allotted timeline with you so you’ll know when we’ll need feedback from you, and when you can expect to receive work from us. As everything is pre-planned, we require timely responses from you so that we can deliver on schedule.

Of course, we totally understand that life sometimes gets hectic, you may not be able to get back to us with relevant feedback in order for us to carry on, please just send us a quick email to let us know so that we can hold your project.

Of course! Even though we are based in Sydney, we have clients sprinkled all over. We live in a digital age, which means we have no problem scheduling meetings via email, phone or zoom.

Can you create a logo for me without creating a whole visual identity?

We can, but we would not recommend it, your logo rarely stands alone, it is always part of something greater, and usually works with supporting elements to strengthen your brands message, like typography, colours, fonts, imagery, secondary logos. Having a visual identity will make your business more successful, established and consistent.

What is the difference between a logo and visual identity?

A logo is a graphic image, design, type or motif which will identify your brand. A visual identity will incorporate your logo and support it with elements that will make up your brand identity and personality. Often this will include typography, colours, imagery, photography and more. All of these visual elements will make up your identity, become your visual language and depict your style guide.

Why do you create logos in black and white first?

We always present our logos in black and white during the early stages. We want to ensure we have the design looking good before experimenting with colour. Once we have completed the rest of your branding, we will have a completed colour palette for your brand, we will then take this palette and start to apply it to your logo, giving your new brand a consistent look and feel.

Why don’t we use the fonts used in your logo throughout the rest of the branding?

Although your logo is part of your brand and look, it is important to make sure the logo always has the highest priority when shown with your supporting elements, this way your logo will always have design hierarchy. If for instance you want to take the font from your logo and use it across your headings or body text, you are diluting the hierarchy of your logo, confusing your audience.

How do design concepts differ from design revisions?

Design concepts are different design directions we may take with your brand in the early stages. We will usually provide you with 3-5 concepts. From this you will choose your favourite one or two which we will then use as the direction of your brand and start to work on evolving the design. From this point if you require tweaks, they are referred to as changes that will usually consist of changing the shape, font, and proportions or colour of the logo, but typically don’t involve changing the entire concept of the logo itself.

What constitutes a round of revisions?

When creating your logo, we offer 3 concepts for you to choose from. Once you choose which option to move forward with, we will present the final logo with 3 rounds of ‘revisions’ that are included in the package price. To make the most of your round, be sure to compile all of your feedback into one concise email with clear feedback. This way, we will be able to ensure we make all relevant changes in one go so that when we present you with the new concept, you haven’t used up one of your three rounds unnecessarily.

I don't need a full rebrand, just a refresh. Can you do this?

Of course, if you have an existing logo or visual identity that you want to keep but needs a little re-fresh, we are able to evolve your brand by modernising your logo, updating the colour palette and/or selecting new fonts etc.

I already have my logo and visuals, I just need help designing and building my website. Is this possible?

It sure is! Whether you would like us to build your website using your exisiting style guide or only have your logo to work from, we are more than happy to help you at whatever stage you’re at.

What is a responsive website?

A responsive website is designed to automatically shrink and expand to be easily viewed on any device, whether it is a desktop, a tablet or a smartphone. Responsive websites are an extremely important thing to have as more and more of us use mobiles and tablets to browse the web. Getting your website designed as a responsive site is almost essential for the future viewing of your site. All of our websites are designed as responsive websites.

Do you need all of my content before you can get started?

Yup! We need to be provided with all content before we go full steam ahead with your website. We will find it extremely tricky designing a website without all the elements. Think of it a bit like attempting to do a jigsaw puzzle without all the pieces. Not only will it slow the whole process down, it may mean you are left with a website that doesn’t quite flow.

Can you write my content for me?

Yes, we sure can! Not only is content one of the most important things within your business, it will strengthen your brand and give it personality. It will also play a part in bringing more visitors to your site. Content can be used as a tool to rank your website higher on search engines by using certain keywords throughout your site.

how will i know how to manage my new website?

Before we transfer the website over to you, we will book in a training session with you. Here we will show you everything you need to know to manage and update your website. We won’t abandon you once the website is complete and will always be here to support you during the early stages of the launch. We do not limit these training sessions as we want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout.

Can I update my website on my own?

Yes, you will be able to update your website as you wish. We use Squarespace to build all of our websites, they are easy to use and update once you know how. (We will be teaching you everything you need to know in the training session mentioned above). After the training session you will be able to manage and update your website with ease.

Do you help with search engine optimisation?

We only use Squarespace when designing websites. The reason for this is, not only do they supply beautiful, modern, easy to use templates, but they also ensure that each site has already been optimised for SEO. So in answer to your question, no we don’t, because we won’t need to.
